MEET OUR TEAM

  • MATT MOSCARDI

Matt founded Free Float, LLC with his partner Damion Rallis in 2019 to do two things: moneyball board directors (investing isn't a "what", it's a "who") and provide an inside view of the media narrative for business and ESG issues from the people that built ESG ratings. Matt created Board Sabermetrics to analyze director and NEO performance, and launched the Business Pants and Woke Data podcasts and live streams to unpack ESG in business news.

Previously, Matt worked at MSCI ESG Research for nearly ten years, developing the ESG Ratings model used by the largest institutional investors in the world. He chaired the MSCI ESG Research Editorial Committee, sat on the MSCI Research Editorial Board, co-created the MSCI ESG Now podcast, and wrote more than 100 investor papers, industry reports, and profiles in his time at MSCI. He's been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, NPR, Pensions and Investments, and other investor and business publications. He routinely lectures at business schools, including past discussions with students at Northeastern, UNC, Yale, Brown, UMass, and others.

Prior to joining MSCI, Matt developed low-carbon investment programs and engaged directly with US pension funds and asset managers managing over USD 10 trillion in assets as a Manager at Ceres, a Boston-based non-profit. Matt also founded a hedge fund with a sustainability and resource scarcity theme before joining Ceres. He is a graduate of Brown University with a concentration in Computers and Music.

  • DAMION RALLIS

Damion worked at MSCI ESG Research, GMI, and The Corporate Library for over a decade as a leading corporate governance expert on the North American team. He published on Business Insider and Seeking Alpha, authored hundreds of company and thematic reports, co-created the ESG Now podcast, and deftly served as Office Head in the Portland, Maine office.

In a former life, Damion subtitled feature films in New York City and Paris, working directly with Oscar- and award-winning directors and producers. He has formal training in on-air radio and news production; developed, produced, and hosted a long-running news and variety show; and produced and hosted several other radio shows at three different radio stations. Damion has written novels, songs, screenplays, and stage plays; has acted in film, video, and stage productions; and performed live at international music festivals. He received his BA in Creative Writing and Black Studies at Oberlin College and his MLIS at McGill University.
